Safety Overview

The most common threats faced by young people online are cyberbullying, sexting/sextortion and interaction with online predators.

The most effective tool parents and educators have to combat these threats is open and ongoing communication.  Please start a conversation today with your children about the immediate dangers and long-term consequences of their online behavior. Revisit the conversation as your child gets older and their online activities change.

You can review the information provided on cyberbullying and sexting/sextortion and see our Internet Safety Partners for more ideas about speaking to your children about technology safety and good digital citizenship.

To request a technology safety presentation please see our Prevention page.
